There are 6 languages within the 5 realms: Dari, Forsantican, Ganeri, Susurian and the Common Tongue (in chronological order).
Dari : Dari is spoken very little, and can only be found spoken by the oldest of the dark elf clans. It's roots are unkown; it is said to have derived from a celestial language, though scholars in Forsantica insist that this is an outrageous proposal. It has had a very strong influence on most modern languages, most particularly on Ganeri, the more common dark elf tongue, Forsantican, which attributes it's older words entirely to Dari, and also to Kantorian Common Tongue, interestingly. It's effect on Kantorian speech appears to given it a strong dialect, and celtic sounding names to their people and cities- it is possible that this land was once entirely Dari speaking. In this day and age, fluent Dari speakers are given breadth and regarded with a mixture of awe and fear. It is seen as a gift, but a dangerous one, as it is said that the ancient evil dragons of old could only converse in this tongue. When written, Dari uses runes which translate as sounds rather than letters, there are, consequently, a vast variety of different runes, making it complicated to notate.
Forsantican: Is a light-tongued soft speech, spoken widely in Forsantica, and less so in Kantor. It claims to be the nearest to the ancient celestial speech, and yet takes all it's oldest law and roots from Dari. Probably the most pleasant of all six languages to listen to, it was said once that animals could understand it. Consequently, it is possible to assume that Forsantican had it's roots in Dari and some form of ancient centaur language (all centaur languages have now died out), as that may be where the link between animal and person have derived from. It's written form takes the form of Dari runes, which are used to represent the sounds of Forsantican words.
Ganeri: Ganeri is the dominant language of Dargonir, though is looked upon with a surprising degree of contempt. It is, for example, seen as uneducated, weak and tame to name a child in the Ganeri tongue- most named in Ganeri are done so because they have no friends or relatives who speak that tongue- conversly, there are some who try and give their offspring Dari names, but are unskilled in that tongue, and children can be long sufferers of a name that translates amusingly in Dari(see Names Page for more information). It has no written form- purely an oral language.
Susurian: One of the most complicated languages to learn, with an equally complicated system of looped letters that making it both the most advanced writing system in the world, and at the same time the most difficult, and least used. It has several different dialects- known in their translated states as; Royal (used in Isoshani and by the upper class), East (used in Loano and Eastern Susuria), Middle (used in Seyha and central Susuria) and Rebel or Kotan (the dialect used by the long term rebels, the Kotans in their city of Regatti.
Common Tongue: A universal Language, spoken sparsly in every realm. Believed to have originated in Mindon, and that it's integration into the rest of the world must have been because the occupants of Mindon could only speak one language. These roots are debatable though, as rarely, if ever, have any realms other than Susuria ever needed to speak to the Mindonae. Another explanation may be that this language evolved from Dari when Kantorians first settled in Mindon, but this again is unproven. The language with the most varied dialects in the world- in Dargonir, the humans have lived so long out of contact with the rest of the human world, that each human city has a variation of the Common Tongue so strong that it is almost a different language entirely.
